Hundreds of jobs under threat at Hewlett Packard plant in Kildare (Report)

Hundreds of jobs at the Hewlett Packard plant in Leixlip in Kildare are believed to under threat.

A number of media outlets, including RTÉ, are reporting that employees at the plant are bracing themselves for job losses at a meeting with management on Wednesday morning about the future of the company.

Approximately 500 people are currently employed at the plant in Kildare.

Hewlett Packard split into two companies in 2015 – HP Inc and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise – and in October of last year, HP Inc announced plans to cut 4,000 jobs worldwide over a three-year period as part of a global restructuring plan aimed at generating gross annual savings of $200-300 million starting in 2020.
