Motorists hitting the road throughout Ireland this morning should be advised to take extreme care as freezing temperatures overnight have led to icy patches on roads throughout the country.
Gardai and AA Roadwatch are warning of treacherous conditions on roads in numerous parts of Ireland this morning, particularly in the south and the west.
CORK: Ice on N71, particularly treacherous on Clonakilty Bypass and further north too between Ballinascarty and Pedlar's Cross. Slow down.

Met Eireann have warned of a cold day ahead with temperatures likely to reach highs of only six degrees in the afternoon, so roads affected by ice are likely to remain dangerous for a large part of the morning.
