One of the men arrested is a serving member of An Garda Síochána.

Two men were arrested on Friday in relation to investigations into alleged wrongdoing or corruption involving Garda personnel.

The two men have been charged with offences under the Criminal Justice (Corruption Offences) Act 2018. Both men will appear before Limerick District Court on Friday.

The arrests and charges are in relation to investigations being undertaken by Special Crime Operations involving Garda personnel in the southern region.

In May, two Gardaí, a superintendent and a ranked Garda, were arrested in an investigation into alleged links between members of the force and a criminal gang.

A Garda inspector was also detained as part of the investigation; all three were released without charge at the time and suspended from duty.

A fourth man was arrested in July for suspected conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. He was subsequently released without charge.
