The girl is seven-years-old.

An Irish girl is in critical condition in hospital following an incident at a hotel swimming pool in Majorca.

Balearic Islands-based newspaper Última Hora reports that the seven-year-old fell into the pool of the hotel where she and her family were staying just after 3.30pm on Monday (20 June).

The Spanish newspaper also states that as soon as the girl fell into the water, hotel lifeguards pulled her out and began attempts to resuscitate her.

This was before an ambulance arrived on the scene and the seven-year-old was transferred to the Son Espases hospital.

In a statement to JOE, a spokesperson for the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs said it was aware of the case and was providing “all possible consular assistance”.

“As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of any specific case,” the spokesperson added.
