Both of the Irish men are in their twenties.

Two Irish men have been charged with murder after the victim succumbed to his injuries.

As reported at the end of December, Donegal men Christopher McLaughlin, 24, and Nathan Kelly, 21, were charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company and affray after emergency services found a 66-year-old man injured on the side of the road at Sydney suburb Summer Hill on Saturday 29 December.

However, local Australian news outlet News AU have reported that the man died on Monday 7 January.

Subsequently, police have upgraded the charges against McLaughlin and Kelly to murder.

They remain behind bars and are expected to appear at a local court on Wednesday 9 January.

RTE News report that both men only arrived in Australia a few months ago.
