This year’s Junior Cert results will be issued two weeks later than usual.

The State Examinations Commission (SEC) year’s Junior Certificate results will be issued on 4 October, more than two weeks later than usual.

This change has been made in order to speed up procedures for students who have appealed the results of their Leaving Certificate exams.

In a letter sent to schools in February, the SEC said: “As a result of the need to prioritise activities associated with the Leaving Certificate appeals, the results of the 2019 Junior Cycle examinations are due for issue to schools in late September.”

They have since said that the immediate priority of the SEC is to achieve the deadline of week ending 20 September it has set for issuing the results of the Leaving Certificate appeals, which is three weeks earlier this year than in previous years.

The change to the issue date this year has presented the opportunity to change the day of issue from the traditional Wednesday to a Friday issue day.

Speaking to JOE, the SEC said that this has been requested of SEC from time to time and we have had agreement to this change of day from all of the stakeholders.

The SEC is in the process of notifying schools of the definitive date for issue of the 2019 Junior Cycle examinations results, which will be in schools and published online.
