Gardaí investigating the disappearance of eight-year-old Kyran Durnin are set to search a house in Dundalk.

Gardaí, acting under a District Court Order, took possession of a private house in Dundalk on October 21st.

Investigating Gardaí will conduct a search of both the house and the adjoining garden today.

They confirmed both technical and forensic examinations will take place.

The search aims to uncover information about Kyran’s whereabouts or what happened to the eight-year-old, Gardaí stated.

Investigators confirmed they’re making ‘steady progress’ after a murder investigation was launched last week.

In a statement to JOE, Garda said: “Commencing today, that house will be searched and be subject of technical and forensic examinations, as will the garden and adjoining open ground to that house.

“The purpose of these searches are to discover any evidence which might provide us with information as to Kyran’s current whereabouts or what has happened to Kyran.

“The house is known to have been Kyran’s family home for a period of years up to May 2024.

“I must emphasise that the current tenants of this house are not connected in anyway with Kyran or his disappear.”

What happened to Kyran Durnin

A family member of Kyran’s reported him missing from his home in Drogheda, Co. Louth on August 30th.

However, Gardaí fears the eight-year-old may be dead and claims he has not been seen alive since May 2022.

They will reportedly start a dig this week, according to The Irish Mirror.

Gardaí issued a statement after their initial invesitgation:

“Despite extensive enquiries carried out by Gardaí to date, An Garda Síochána have been unable to either locate Kyran, identify any information on his current whereabouts, or any evidence that he is currently alive.

“Following enquiries to date, investigating Gardaí now believe that Kyran is missing presumed dead. A murder investigation has been commenced.”

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who has any information in connection with the disappearance of Kyran to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200.

Witnesses can also contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
