Extremely dangerous.

A learner driver in Kildare has been arrested after being caught speeding at 115km in a 50km zone. The arrest was made by the Naas Roads Policing unit during a checkpoint last night.

The Garda Twitter account shared the information this morning.

Aside from the speeding offence, the motorist was also driving with a learner permit and had no L-plates displayed in their car.  The driver was also not accompanied by a qualified driver.

Since the arrest was made, the vehicle has been seized and the motorist now faces a court charge.

Earlier this week, Gardai in Limerick made two similar arrests after a recent road operation stopped several drivers that were exceeding the speed limit by significant amounts.

As part of their recent Christmas and New Year road safety campaign, An Garda Síochána revealed that their speed cameras caught over 800 drivers in total breaking the speed limit.
