Carrie Fisher, best known for her iconic portrayal of Princess Leia in Star Wars, has died.
The legendary actress, screenwriter, producer and author had suffered cardiac arrest on a flight from LAX to London on December 23.
Billy Lourd, a spokesperson for the family released a statement:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.”
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
After she had been taken to hospital, Fisher’s condition had been described as critical but stable, and she was moved from the ICU.
