Graffiti death threat in Dublin against Leo Varadkar condemned

"This offensive and threatening graffiti offers nothing to our community."

A graffiti death threat against Taoiseach Leo Varadkar that appeared overnight in Dublin has been condemned. According to multiple reports, the writing appeared on a wall opposite the Blackhorse Luas stop in the suburb of Inchicore. The graffiti threat reads: "Kill Leo Veradkar. He sold out the Irish." The Taoiseach's surname is spelt incorrectly in the graffiti. Posting an image of the writing to Twitter, Sinn Féin councillor Daithí Doolan condemned it, stating that he has contacted Dublin City Council to ask that it be "removed". He added: "Regardless of deep differences with Leo Varadkar and Fine Gael, I hope this is removed as soon as possible. "This offensive and threatening graffiti offers nothing to our community."

Graffiti death threat in Dublin against Leo Varadkar condemned

Speaking further about the issue to Newstalk, Doolan stated: "I live across the road from where that graffiti appeared, and it is very sinister. It's promoting a death threat on An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar." Reiterating that he shares "no-politics" with Varadkar or the current Government, Doolan said he believes "graffiti offers no solution". "It's cheap, it's nasty, it's vindictive," he explained. "If people want real change then they should become active in their community and work together and bring about the change we all want." He also stated that the graffiti threat "does none of that and does not represent the good people of Drimnagh and Inchicore".
