Letters to Spanish student reveal the life Graham Dwyer is living behind bars

JOE

In March 2015, Graham Dwyer was handed a life sentence after a jury found him guilty of murdering Elaine O’Hara.

Letters that Dwyer has exchanged with a Spanish au pair in her twenties have offered insight into how Dwyer has been living for the past two years.

The Irish Mirror has reported that Dwyer, who is incarcerated in Midlands Prison, Portlaoise, spends his time doing yoga and playing bass guitar. The Mirror further reports that Dwyer repeatedly brags about what a great musician he is.

Dwyer, who has stated his intention to appeal the court’s ruling, has also told his pen-pal that there is another inmate in the prison who is out to get him.

“One prisoner in particular has been giving him a very hard time and making threats against him and his family,” claimed the source for the Irish Mirror.

Dwyer was found guilty of murdering mentally ill woman Elaine O’Hara by stabbing her repeatedly. At the time of sentencing, the judge claimed that Dwyer “richly deserves” the life sentence that he received. The judge characterised the crime as the “most vile manipulation and abuse of a woman.”
