Geoff Payne spent time reading the many tributes left outside the hotel.
Liam Payne’s father, Geoff, has been seen reading the tributes left outside of the hotel in Buenos Aires where his son died aged 31.
The singer was found dead on Wednesday night, with emergency services stating he fell from a third-floor balcony at the hotel.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The singer’s cause of death was confirmed, citing reports from the Argentinian prosecutor’s office.
The autopsy shows that Payne died from multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding caused by a fall from a third-story hotel balcony. It also showed that Payne’s head injuries were sufficient to cause death.
Following the heartbreaking news of his death, Payne’s family issued a statement.
“We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.
“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”
Fans have left tributes outside the Casa Sur Hotel, and Payne’s father Geoff is said to have read the tributes and kissed the pictures placed there.
As he arrived at the scene, fans created a wall with their bodies in an attempt to provide some privacy from the paparazzi.
“Geoff paused occasionally to put on his glasses to read the notes written in English and picked up the pictures to kiss them,” Sky correspondent Martha Kelner said of the scene.
“He also thanked fans for being there.”
Kelner added: “He was not allowed into the exact room, which is still an active investigation scene, but he was shown a room with a similar layout.
“He earlier visited the morgue to confirm the identity of his son and the prosecutor’s office to arrange for his repatriation to the UK.”
