Two arrested and charged over 2021 death of four-year-old boy in Limerick

The boy died in Rathbane in March of 2021.

Gardaí investigating the death of a four-year-old boy in Limerick that occurred in March of 2021 have arrested and charged two individuals in connection with the incident.

The man – aged in his 30s – and the woman – aged in her 20s – were both arrested on Thursday (6 October) and have been formally charged.

Both are due to appear before Limerick District Court on Friday morning.

The four-year-old boy, named locally as Mason TJ O’Connell-Conway, suffered fatal injuries at a house in Rathbane on Saturday, 13 March of last year.

The boy was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick, and then transferred to Cork University Hospital.

He was later transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital following the incident, where he sadly passed away on Tuesday, 16 March.

Investigations are ongoing at this time.
