Lonely Planet names 20 of the best pubs in Ireland

How many of these have you had a pint in?

Ireland is renowned all over the world for its pubs and is home to a reported 7,000 of them.

In fact, given the sheer amount of taverns, one imagines it would be quite hard to select just a small few to single out as being among the greatest.

However, that’s just what the ambitious folks over at famed travel publisher Lonely Planet have done in a new list selecting 20 of the best pubs on the island of Ireland.

The selection sees watering holes assessed not just on the creaminess of the pints, but also their atmosphere, entertainment offerings, food, location and spirits.

Arranged in alphabetical order, here are Lonely Planet’s picks for the top 20 pubs in Ireland:
