Homenews

Tragic news.

A man in his 40s has died following an incident at a beach in Clare. In a statement to JOE, Gardaí said they were called by the Coastguard to attend Fanore Beach at around 9.30pm on Tuesday (12 July). This was after the man had gotten into difficulty while swimming in the sea. Also tasked alongside Gardaí was the Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 115. After being located, the man was taken from the water and airlifted to University Hospital Galway where he was later pronounced dead. In a separate incident earlier in the week, a male teenager died after getting into difficulty while swimming at Burrow Beach in Sutton, Dublin. Main image via Sam Boal / RollingNews.ie
