A woman remains in critical condition as a result of the attack.

A man has been arrested following the assault of a woman in Wicklow on Saturday morning (14 December). Gardaí investigating the serious assault of a woman in her 30s that occurred at a house in Arklow in Wicklow in the early hours of this morning have made an arrest. The man, who is also in his 30s, was arrested this evening and is currently detained at Wicklow Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. According to Gardaí, the injured woman remains in critical condition at St Vincent's Hospital. Gardaí in Wicklow are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward. More information on this story can be found here.
