Man arrested following attempted robbery of a takeaway in Cork

The incident occurred just before midnight on Tuesday.

A man has been arrested in relation to a robbery at a takeaway in Cork on Tuesday night.

Gardaí have arrested the man in his 20s in relation to the robbery, which took place on Georges Quay, Cork on 26 November.

Shortly before midnight, Gardaí in Anglesea Street received a report of a robbery.

It is believed that the man had entered a takeaway, armed with what is believed to a knife, and threatened staff that were in attendance.

He left the scene empty handed and no staff member was injured during the incident.

Gardaí carried out a search of the area and arrested a man in his 20s on Tower Street, and the knife that was believed to have been used in the incident was seized.

The man in question was brought to Bridewell Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
