Man banned from having sex unless he tells police one day in advance

Conor Heneghan

A man in the UK has been banned from having any form of sexual activity with a woman, unless he gives the police 24 hours notice beforehand.

According to the York Press, the unnamed man (he cannot be named for legal reasons) must also inform police about every device he uses to call or text people and will be subject to controls over his Internet usage as part of an interim sexual risk order that will remain in place until May 19.

Once the interim order expires, magistrates in York will decide whether or not to impose a full sexual risk order, which are used when someone has not been convicted of a sexual offence but when police convince a court that it is necessary to protect the public from the subject of the order.

As part of the terms of the interim order, the man must notify North Yorkshire police about plans to start a sexual relationship or have a one-off sexual encounter at least 24 hours before any sexual contact occurs.

If he moves to another county, he must notify the police force in the area under similar circumstances.

North Yorkshire Police are expected to apply for the full order against the man when the interim one expires on May 19.
