A man has died following a car crash in Cork

Very sad news from Cork.

A man in his 70s has died following a single-vehicle car crash in the Taur area of Newmarket, Cork.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that the man died after his car collided with a ditch at roughly 12.20am on Tuesday (19 November).

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and his body has been removed to the City Morgue at Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The scene of the incident remains closed for a forensic examination as of Tuesday morning.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have information, particularly any road users who may have been travelling through the area shortly after midnight, to contact them at Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
