A man has died following a road traffic collision in Cork

Very sad news.

A man in his 80s has died, and a woman in her 80s was injured following a single vehicle road traffic collision in Cork.

The collision occurred at approximately 2.50pm on Wednesday on the M8 at Sallybrook, Glanmire.

The car was travelling northbound and crashed through the Central median and over onto the embankment on the southbound side of the M8.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene while the female passenger was injured in the collision and taken to Cork University Hospital but her injuries are described as non life threatening.

The road was closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination but has since reopened.
