Man dies following car crash in Longford

Very sad news from Longford.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has confirmed that a man in his 30s has died following a road traffic collision in Longford.

The incident occurred shortly before 2am this morning (29 December), on the R198 near Arva at Moyne. Gardaí have reported that the man’s car left the road and struck a ditch. The car involved was a black Ford Focus.

Emergency services attended the scene and the man, who was in his 30s, was brought to Cavan General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

As of Sunday morning, the road remains closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with dash-cam footage who was travelling in the area at that time, to contact Granard Garda Station on 043-3350570 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
