Man dies after being struck by car in Kildare

Very sad news from Kildare.

A man in his 30s has been pronounced dead after he was struck by a car in Kildare.

Gardaí in Naas are investigating the fatal road traffic collision which occurred late on Saturday night (7 November) in the townland of Greenhills, Kilcullen, Kildare.

A male pedestrian was struck by a moving car, and attending emergency services have confirmed that he was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. His body has since been removed to the mortuary in Naas General Hospital.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, didn’t suffer any injuries.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are en route to the scene as of Sunday morning, and the M9 southbound between junction 1 and junction 2 is closed at present to allow for examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are now appealing to any motorists who may have travelled on the M9 southbound between junction 1 and junction 2 prior to the collision or who may have witnessed the collision or who may have camera footage of the collision to contact them as Naas Garda Station on 045 884300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
