Man dies after truck collides with car in Sligo

Very sad news.

A man in his 40s has been pronounced dead after his car was involved in a collision with a truck in Sligo at around midday on Thursday (13 February).

The man was only person in the car at the time of incident. He was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital.

Gardaí in Ballymote are now seeking witnesses to the crash, which occurred on the N4 road between Castlebaldwin and Collooney, Sligo.

The scene at the crash site is preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and the local Coroner has been notified. The road is currently closed to traffic and diversions are in place.
