Man extradited from US to Ireland to face hundreds of sexual offence charges

The man was extradited on Friday morning.

An Garda Síochána has confirmed that a man in his 30s has been extradited from the United States to Ireland in order to face multiple sexual offence charges.

According to Gardaí, the man was extradited from Boston, Massachusetts and was immediately handed over into Garda custody upon arrival in Ireland.

An operation had been conducted by Gardaí in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security in the United States, as well as Interpol. The man was arrested in New York earlier this year.

It is expected that the man will go before Longford District Court later today (5 April).

Court papers filed in New York suggest that the man is “charged with 210 counts of sexual assault, 177 counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, three counts of assault causing harm, one count of false imprisonment, one count of damage to property, and one count of harassment”.
