A man in Seattle tried to kill a spider with some spray paint and a lighter and ended up setting his house on fire.

We’ve all been there, eh? You see a creepy-crawly and immediately you think, “Quick, I need something highly flammable and something to ignite it with.” Or perhaps not. Well, a man in Seattle thought it was clever to do just that when he spotted a spider in his laundry room.

Fire-fighters were called to the scene after the man retreated from the house after failing to quell the flames which had engulfed a wall. It caused $40,ooo worth of damage to the house itself and another $20,000 of damage to contents within the house. The arachnophobic pyromaniac wasn’t even sure if he killed the spider or not.

Whatever happened to feet and squashing? Much simpler and less likely to burn the house down. It’s like that old saying, ‘There’s no spider without fire’… or something.
