A man in his late 70s has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in Galway. Gardaí are currently investigating the incident, which took place this afternoon (Friday 23 August) in the Blackrock area of the city. The man's body was recovered by the life guard, assisted by Gardaí from Salthill. Speaking to JOE, the Garda Press Office confirmed that the body has been removed to University Hospital Galway and a postmortem will take place, and a file will be prepared for the Coroners Court.
