Gardaí have confirmed that a man has died following an assault in Waterford today.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that a man has been arrested following a fatal assault in Waterford on Thursday afternoon (13 December).
Garda and ambulance services were called to a house in Portlaw at 2.45pm on 13 December 2018. A man in his 50s was taken from the scene by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford, where he was pronounced dead.
A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the assault. He is currently detained at Tramore Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984
Neither the deceased nor the arrested man have been publicly named by Gardaí.
