The collision occurred yesterday morning.

The man who died in a e-scooter collision on Christmas Day in Waterford has been named.

Alan Walsh, a local man in his 40s, died after colliding with a car at the junction of Manor Hill (Bunker's Hill) and Hennessy's Road yesterday, December 25, at around 11am.

The father-of-two from St John's Park had worked in O'Sullivan's Bar & Restaurant in Waterford City.

The driver of the vehicle, man aged in his 80s, was treated in University Hospital Waterford for injuries believed to be not life-threatening.

Gardaí have said that that no other injuries were reported.

The road was closed for several hours to allow for a technical examination of the scene to take place, and Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Particularly, road users who may have camera footage and were travelling on Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy's Road between 10.45am and 11.15am on Christmas Day.

Gardaí also said that investigations remain ongoing.
