Melania Trump to sue the Daily Mail for $150 million

And no, it’s not because they claimed she plagiarised her RNC speech from Michelle Obama…

Melania Trump, former model and wife of current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, is suing British newspaper the Daily Mail for $150 million after the paper wrote a story that referenced a blog post which suggested Trump had worked as an escort for wealthy clients while living in her home country of Slovenia.

The Daily Mail retracted the article, but argued that they did point out that there was no evidence to support these claims and printed full denials from Mrs. Trump’s spokesperson.

While the blogger has also retracted their article, Trump’s lawyers have argued that “These defendants made several statements about Mrs Trump that are 100% false and tremendously damaging to her personal and professional reputation.”

According to the BBC, lawyer Charles Harder said that the “defendants’ actions are so egregious, malicious and harmful to Mrs Trump that her damages are estimated at $150m.”

$150 million is roughly €134 million, or £114 million.

Trump’s lawyer, Charles Harder, is the same attorney used by Hulk Hogan in his massive successful lawsuit against Gawker – which resulted in the eventual closure of Gawker.com.
