We’re not out of those ultra-dry woods just yet…
Met Éireann has issued an update to last weekend’s national weather warning which warned against worsening drought conditions and set a high alert for wildfires.
Though this week’s forecast is expected to feature some degree of rain, the status yellow national warning has been extended until Friday 13 July.
According to Met Éireann’s latest update on Monday afternoon, there will be some alleviation in drought conditions in places across the country over the week.
However, there will be little initial reduction in soil moisture deficits as evapotranspiration rates are set to remain high.
The updated warning is valid until midday on Friday 13 July.
