Met Éireann issues new weather warning valid until Monday

Weather warning

Rain, rain and… more rain.

Met Éireann has issued another Status Yellow rainfall warning for 12 counties.

The warning covers Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

It was issued at 7.30am on Sunday morning and is valid until 6am on Monday.

Met Éireann said persistent or heavy rainfall will give totals of 25 to 40mm with higher amounts possible in mountainous areas.

This may result in some rivers flooding as well as surface flooding.

There’s currently three other warnings valid in Ireland on Sunday with two separate Status Yellow wind warnings in place for Galway, Clare, Kerry, Mayo, Sligo and Donegal.

Both of these warnings expire on Sunday night and warn of northwest winds strengthening on Sunday with mean wind speeds of 50 to 65 km/h and gusts of 90 to 100 km/h.

There’s also a Status Yellow rainfall warning in place for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry.

The warning expires at 6pm on Sunday state heavy rain expected across Northern Ireland leading to some disruption through Sunday.
