Met Éireann has issued two Status Yellow thunderstorm warnings which apply together for 26 counties.
Issued on Saturday morning, the first is valid from 9pm on Saturday to 2am on Halloween on Sunday and covers the province of Munster, as well as Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.
The second will be in effect from 1am and 5am on Sunday and applies to the province of Leinster, along with counties Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim and Monaghan.
Both warn of “thundery outbreaks of rain with possible lightning and localised flooding”.

As for the rest of Halloween, Met Éireann’s forecast says it will be a windy, cool day with sunny spells but also outbreaks of thundery rain.
The latter does pose a further risk of spot flooding, the forecaster notes, as highest temperatures are set to range from 9 to 13 degrees.
