A wet one.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for all the counties in Munster.

The warning was issued at 11am on Thursday and is valid from 3pm today until midnight tonight.

Met Éireann has said that thunderstorms will likely develop in Munster this afternoon and evening.

The thunderstorms will be localised, meaning that some areas will escape them completely but others will see torrential downpours with some hail possible and some spot flooding.

Tonight will be muggy with showers continuing in the south of the country but mostly dry elsewhere.

It will be mild and humid with temperatures not dropping below 14 to 17 degrees.

Heavy rain on Wednesday night and Thursday morning in the south of the country has already caused disruption in some areas, with Cork in particular experiencing some spot flooding.

Speaking to Patricia Messinger on C103’s Cork Today Show, Senator Tim Lombard said that millions of euro worth of damage had been caused to West Cork due to the heavy rain overnight.

Torrential rain in the area had caused major flooding and some roads were impassable.

He said an assessment needs to be carried out once the water recedes in order to discover the extent of the damage.
