Yesterday, Met Éireann issued orange and yellow wind warnings for virtually the whole island. Originally meant to elapse at 6am on Sunday morning, both warnings have now been extended by six hours each, as far as midday tomorrow.
The orange warning, which covers Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Westmeath, Meath and Clare, forecasts winds “reaching mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with gusts of 110 to 125 km/h. High seas along the west coast too with the risk of coastal flooding.”
The yellow warning, which was updated at 8am on Saturday, applies to Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.
It forecasts that “winds will reach mean speeds of 45 to 65 km/h with gusts of 90 to 110 km/h.”
Both warnings will come into effect at 9pm tonight, so you best be wrapped up warm by then.
