thunderstorms in Ireland

Take note, folks.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain and thunderstorm warning for the Republic of Ireland.

The warning is in effect from midday on Monday and remains in place until 5am on Tuesday morning.

Thunderstorms and heavy showers will develop on Monday over the western half of the country, moving eastwards this evening where they will continue tonight, the forecaster said.

It warned that localised downpours will lead to spot flooding and hazardous driving conditions in some areas.

This latest warning comes on the back of a weather advisory issued by Met Éireann on Monday morning for heavy thundery showers for the entirety of Ireland.

It is advised that a cold front will cross the country on Monday afternoon, which will bring widespread heavy and possibly thundery showers.

The advisory comes into effect at 12pm on Monday and remains in place until 5am on Tuesday morning.

Met Éireann also said heavy showers with the risk of thunderstorms will continue through Tuesday and Wednesday.
