Met Eireann have officially issued a scary-sounding weather warning for the next eight days

Snow warning

It gets bad, and then it gets worse.

In the few hours since we had talked about the weather getting pretty bad this weekend, the folks over at Met Eireann went ahead and confirmed it with an official weather warning, and it is so much worse that we could have guessed.

Their official weather advisory is as follows:

Exceptionally cold weather is forecast for next week with significant wind chill and severe frosts. Disruptive snow showers are expected from Tuesday onwards, particularly in the east and southeast.

That, in itself, isn’t good news.

You may have noticed that the “Disruptive snow showers” don’t kick in until Tuesday, and “onwards”.

Now, we all know how Ireland reacts to snow showers: essentially the entire country forgets how to move properly, and everyone becomes that guy from the RTE news report who slipped on the ice.

However, the bad news keeps on coming, as the weather warning is in effect from right now (Friday afternoon), all the way up to midday on Friday 2 March.

That is eight solid days of bad weather which looks to be getting progressively worse as far as Met Eireann can accurately predict.

At least there’s some decent stuff on the telly this weekend…
