It’s December! You know what that means, it’s absolutely freezing outside.

It is now 3 December. So everyone should be preparing their Christmas lists, picking out presents for their loved ones, and tucking into their advent calendars.

But as well as that, everyone should be wrapping up warmly, because it’s so, so cold.

Met Éireann has released its forecast for the next couple of days, and conditions are expected to be pretty chilly.

The nationwide forecast for Monday night predicts cold weather, with mostly clear skies and a few showers on northern coasts. Temperatures will drop to as low as -2, with a widespread hard frost and some icy stretches on roads, with patches of mist and fog also expected.

And it doesn’t get any better for Tuesday night, as Met Éireann has warned of potential spot flooding. It is expected to become very wet, with spells of heavy rain spreading up from the south coast and the possibility of  sleet in mountainous areas.

There is some slightly better news ahead, however. The coming weekend looks set to be a bit brighter, with Met Éireann predicting conditions to be “a little fresher” with a good few dry spells as well.

We’ll take it…
