Metallica has donated €80,000 to two Irish charities following their Dublin concerts.
The US heavy-metal band were in town last week to play two massive Aviva Stadium gigs as part of their M72 world tour.
It marked their first time back in Ireland since 2019, and before leaving town they made a generous donation of €40,000 Dublin Simon Community and Women’s Aid.
As well as this, they teamed up with the Irish Blood Transfusion Service on a blood drive that rewarded donors with free special edition T-shirts.
Both the partnership and charitable donations came as part of Metallica’s nonprofit foundation, All Within My Hands, which has donated over $25 million (€21.93 million) since its start in 2017.
The foundation shared the news of its Irish donations, saying 'the opportunity to give back was meaningful'.
They further highlighted the Dublin Simon Community’s soup run, which has been on the go since 1969.
“Our €40K grant will ensure their frontline staff can continue to operate on the ground and support our community directly 24/7, 365 days a year."
They further revealed that Women’s Aid will use their donation toward its national free-phone helpline, high-risk support project, and emergency fund.
