The dancer’s team confirmed the news on his social media.
Legendary dancer Michael Flatley has undergone surgery after being diagnosed with what is described as an “aggressive form of cancer”.
Renowned for the Irish dance shows ‘Lord of the Dance’ and ‘Riverdance’, the 64-year-old’s team confirmed the news in a statement on his social media on Wednesday (11 January).
They said the Irish-American performer – who also recently directed, wrote and starred in the spy film Blackbird – is being looked after by an “excellent team of doctors”.
The full statement reads:
“Dear friends, we have something personal to share. Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.
“He has undergone surgery and is in the care of an excellent team of doctors.
“No further comments will be made at this time. We ask only for your prayers and well wishes.
“Thank you. TeamLord.”
