Mix of sunny spells and rain forecasted for the weekend

Stephen Porzio

Ireland’s weather over the weekend will continue to be “unsettled”.

Met Éireann has said Ireland will see a mix of sunny spells and rain this weekend.

According to the national weather forecaster, there will be some bright spells for a time in Ulster on Saturday.

However, rain in Munster and south Leinster will spread northwards, reaching south Ulster by mid-afternoon and extending further north in the evening.

Temperatures will range from 15 to 18 degrees during the day, with Saturday night set to be cloudy with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle in most areas overnight, though, there will also be some dry intervals.

It will be mostly cloudy to begin on Sunday with further patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

That said, it will brighten up as the day goes on with sunny spells as scattered showers become isolated by evening.

Temperatures will range from 17 to 21 degrees.

Many areas will become dry overnight though scattered showers will feed in, primarily affecting Atlantic and northern coastal counties.

In regards to next week, Met Éireann’s outlook reads: “Current indications suggest a good deal of dry weather with occasional sunshine but often rather cloudy.

“Temperatures will be around average or slightly below.”
