Man arrested 39 deaths

Investigations are ongoing.

Following an appeal on Thursday morning, a woman has made contact with An Garda Síochána in relation to the fatal traffic collision that occurred on Wednesday 27 November in Castleblaney, County Monaghan.

47-year-old local man Stephen Marron died in the crash.

Gardaí wish to renew their appeal for any witnesses that may have been in the vicinity of Main Street in Castleblaney between 11.15pm and 11.45pm on Wednesday.

Anyone who was in the area during this time is asked to contact Carrickmacross Garda Station on 042 9690 190, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

A 34-year-old man who was arrested at the scene remains in custody at Carrickmacross Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Shortly before the crash on Wednesday, Garda Michael Devlin had attempted to stop a silver Audi A6 close to Castleblaney Garda Station.

This car drove off and the Devlin was dragged by the car for about 500 metres before it crashed into another car, a Skoda Octavia, on Main Street.

Devlin, a Garda in Monaghan Garda Station, has since been discharged from hospital following the incident.
