A motorist has been arrested for driving at a speed of 207 kilometres per hour on the M9 motorway in Kildare.
Details of the offence were released by Gardaí on social media on Tuesday morning (22 December); it was revealed that the motorist responsible has been arrested and charged.

Earlier this month, Gardaí conducted a national speed enforcement operation on National Slow Down Day (11 December) in an effort to remind drivers of the dangers of speeding, to increase compliance with speed limits and to act as a deterrent to driving at excessive or inappropriate speed.
As of 9am on 21 December, there have been 143 fatalities on Irish roads in 2020, an increase of seven compared to the same period last year despite a marked reduction in activity on Irish roads due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
