Gardaí are reportedly treating her death as suspicious.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate after the body of a woman was discovered at a house in Killarney in Kerry.

She has since been named locally as 75-year-old Miriam Burns, with a post-mortem scheduled to take place later on Tuesday (16 August).

The woman’s body was discovered in a residential property in Ardshanavooley at around 1.15pm on Monday.

Multiple reports state that Ms Burns’ loved ones had become concerned for her and called emergency services.

It is also understood that Gardaí are treating her death as suspicious and that she was found with head and neck injuries that do not seem to be consistent with a fall.

Tributes have been pouring in for Ms Burns since her tragic death, with one neighbour telling The Sunday World she was the “heartbeat” of the community.
