National Wax Museum removes McGregor figure following civil case

The removal of the figure comes after Nikita Hand won a civil sexual assault case against the MMA fighter.

The National Wax Museum Plus in Dublin have removed their Conor McGregor wax figure.

This comes following his civil trial case in which a jury found he had assaulted Nikita Hand by raping her in a Dublin hotel in December 2018.

The museum said the figure, which McGregor’s father, Tony, unveiled in 2017, was removed two weeks ago in light of the outcome.

In a statement, the museum explained: “As a family-friendly attraction, we regularly review our exhibits to ensure they align with our values and the expectations of our visitors.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and make decisions about future displays accordingly.”

A spokesperson for the wax museum revealed to RTÉ that the figure was one of their ‘more popular ones’.

They added: “If you look at most photos online taken by people visiting the museum, a lot would be with McGregor.”

Furthermore, a number of companies have delisted products linked to McGregor, such as Proper No.12 whiskey and Forged Irish Stout.

Both Dublin and Cork airports, Tesco, as well as wholesalers like BWG Foods and Musgraves have all stopped stocking the alcoholic beverages.

McGregor was ordered to pay Ms Hand nearly €250,000 in damages.
