Nearly €3 million worth of suspected cocaine has been seized in Donegal

Nearly €3 million worth of suspected cocaine has been seized in Donegal.

The Milford District Drugs Unit made the seizure yesterday as part of an intelligence-led operation.

According to gardaí, the Milford District Drugs Unit examined a vehicle which resulted in the seizure of 41kg of a substance believed to be cocaine.

Gardaí say the amount has an estimated value of €2,800,000.

Investigating Gardaí at Milford are liaising with the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Police Service of Northern Ireland in respect of this probe.

Superintendent David Kelly in Milford – who is leading the investigation into the seizure – called it “significant”.

He said in a statement: “This significant seizure has reduced the supply of illegal drugs in our community thereby increasing community safety”.
