Renowned referee Nigel Owens will also be appearing on the show, when Francis’ controversial comments about gay people in sport will no doubt be the subject of much debate.

Francis has been the target of much criticism since his controversial comments about gays in sport on Newstalk’s Off the Ball yesterday, with Conor Cusack offering the most eloquent of a number of responses in social media circles.

As a rugby analyst on The Last Word, Francis regularly appears on Mondays and Fridays to review and preview the weekend’s rugby action, but his comments will be the focus of most attention on this evening’s show, with openly gay and highly regarded rugby referee Nigel Owens also lined up to offer his thoughts on the matter.

It’ll be interesting to hear Francis attempt to explain himself and to hear the discussion between himself, Owens (who also appeared on The Pat Kenny show on Newstalk earlier today) and host Matt Cooper, which is scheduled to take place at approximately 6.30pm this evening.
