Taoiseach Enda Kenny spoke on behalf of current First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon in a meeting of 28 EU leaders.
British Prime Minister David Cameron was present at last night’s meeting, but thanks to the strange results of last week’s Brexit referendum, Scotland’s attitude towards EU membership is badly at odds with the UK majority.
Scotland, as part of the UK, will also be forced to leave the EU when article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty is triggered – largely against the will of its people, who voted to remain in an overwhelming majority.
Scotland itself, however, currently has no representation in EU meetings, and so Ireland’s Taoiseach Enda Kenny spoke on Sturgeon’s behalf.
Sturgeon went on to express her appreciation for Kenny’s words.
Enda Kenny says today that in last night's meeting of 28 EU leaders (where Cameron was still present!) he spoke on behalf of Nicola Sturgeon

^ Taoiseach repeated, on FM's request, Scotland's "very strong belief that they should not be dragged out of the EU when they voted to stay"

Asked now about Enda Kenny's comments. "I do welcome Enda's intervention on our behalf today."

Sturgeon: I asked Taoiseach to relay Scotland's concerns. "By all accounts he did that very effectively and I'm very grateful"
