A number of Aer Lingus flights to and from the US have been cancelled due to “bomb cyclone”

Bad news for those travelling Stateside.

States in the southeast of America have been hit badly by a rare winter storm, causing a number of flights to be cancelled travelling both to and from the US. Aer Lingus has cancelled four flights today due to what is being called a ''bomb cyclone'' or ''bombogenesis'' blizzard. The flights affected are:

• EI 135 Shannon to Boston
• EI 134 Boston to Shannon
• EI 137 Dublin to Boston
• EI 136 Boston to Dublin

The company took to Twitter to announce travel plans for affected customers, including giving passengers the option to postpone their travel plans free-of-charge. https://twitter.com/AerLingus/status/948644127964528640 They wrote: “Winter storm conditions are forecast in the northeastern United States on Thursday 04 Jan. We currently plan to operate our full schedule, however, guests travelling to/from New York, Newark or Boston on Thursday 04 Jan may postpone travel for up to 7 days, free-of-charge.'' https://twitter.com/AerLingus/status/948644732946862081 The storm has produced the first snow in Florida's capital Tallahassee in three decades. The governors of Florida, Georgia, Virginia and North Carolina have declared states of emergency, warning residents to expect icy roads and unseasonable freezing temperatures.
