O say can you see… JOE’s favourite versions of the American national anthem

Homenews

We love 'Murica here at JOE and to celebrate the 4th of July, we have decided to create a little montage of the funniest versions of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ ever performed.

Some of these are staged and from films, while others are simply awful all on their own. Enjoy. Alexis Normand spectacularly bombs the national anthem during the 2013 Memorial Cup, although in her defence, she is Canadian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqryAVfqnRU This piece comes from the movie Naked Gun where actor Leslie Nielson performs his own version of the anthem. It's almost better than the original. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73ZsDdK0sTI Our personal favourite from the list, this poor girl forgets the words and has to run to get her notes and then.... Just watch what happens next. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGH-IazFuyI Family Guy manages to scorn the anthem like only Seth MacFarlane can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PhZpESt0lc Michael Bolton famously wrote the words on his hand, yet managed to forget them and make it blindingly obvious at the same time. Vintage Michael. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZrK_kOk8Lw Borat Sagdiyev angers a hostile rodeo crowd with his mockery of the Star Spangled Banner. Technically not the American anthem but we make our own rules here at JOE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtvYwtAz8OQ Olympic medallist Carl Lewis starts off bad and finishes even worse. Stick to the day job, pal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJLvCM4j2mg We love a Simpson’s reference in JOE and this Bleeding Gums Murphy version is a classic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQOgWK-mbWI
