BBC journalist Mark Simpson has tweeted a number of previously secret documents given to the former Northern Ireland secretary Tom King in 1985, one of which warns him against using the word ‘Ireland.’
The memo states that Ireland “has an all-Ireland connotation,” while he was also banned from the using the term Free State.
The documents also advise on the pronunciation of Taoiseach. Teeshuck.
